Book A is the first book in the Colour Flute method which supplies a solid foundation for improvisation, ensemble playing and overall musicianship in addition to educational principles.
The Colour Flute method was created by Jaana Laasonen with the assistance of her colleague Riikka Rahivaara-Tarkka. Inspired by Geza Szilvays Colourstrings method, the Colour Flute takes as its starting points the character of the instrument and the world of the child. The philosophy of Zoltan Kodaly gives a foundation to the method in which the use of colours, solmisation and an abundance of folk music material are especially important. In addition to the educational principles the method aims at a flexible and versatile control of the instrument. The Colour Flute method supplies a solid foundation for improvisation, ensemble playing and overall musicianship.
