This is the Second Book in the Rhythm Rascals Series and follows on from the Singing Rascals series of books and Rhythm Rascals TA.
The Singing and Rhythm Rascals series form the foundation for starting to learn an instrument using the Colourstrings methodology. The songs and rhythms in the books are repeated right through the instrumental courses giving children instant familiarity with the compositions.
Parent and child can sing and clap the words, then progress to singing the words and tapping the beat on his or her lap. The material is organised starting from the simpler rhythm combinations and proceeding to the more complex. The songs also lend themselves to exploring a variety of musical concepts such as rhythm that is off the beat, long-short and pausing.
This book features songs in which the rhythm is either off the beat, (TI TA TI), or “dotted” (long-short; short-long), or a mixture. Then there are two songs that contain the quick-quick-short and short-quick-quick rhythms and Clever Geese ends the series with a song/game that involves waiting for two beats.
There are 2 books in the Rhythm Rascals Series – TA and TI TI.
A CD is also available and each song is presented in different ways – with words, in rhythm names, sung alone or in groups and encourages the child to feel and understand different rhythms through singing and playing.
